Unveiling a Unusual Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is in full swing, and enthusiasts have discovered a variety of interesting creations from small studios. Yet, one catches the eye for its offbeat concept. Named Unko Technica, this classic-feel side-scrolling game includes a hero that is actually a turd striving to travel to a toilet. As a fun fact, "Unko" translates to "poop."

The gameplay is simple: you only need a one button to leap. In 150 stages, encounter boss fights and access a shop to purchase outfits for your fecal avatar.

Plan your jumps carefully, since one error requires restarting the level. Bounce on bubbles to launch your character higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and interact with switches to unlock hidden paths. Earn coins and use them on challenging levels as the action gets crazy.

Graphically, the demo shows off neon environments and catchy music score. Its minimalist graphics of moving abstract forms evokes memories of fans of beloved games like Earthbound.

While it's difficult to name previous releases where you are a piece of feces, gaming frequently incorporated toilet humor. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players craft throwables from character waste. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved utilize manure as plant food. Unsurprisingly, fecal references appears heavily in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received notable recognition, like being named best at Bandai Namco's game competition in 2023. A playable preview is available now on Steam, with the complete version set to debut on Steam in the fall.
