The collaboration between Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that focused exclusively on the forthcoming animated feature.
Following up on the successful 2023 release The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. Along the way, he discovers a new princess and a powerful new opponent in Bowser Jr., the heir to Bowser's throne.
An Interstellar Journey Drawing from Iconic Releases
In the vein of the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will depart from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to explore outer space. During his grand adventure, he will reunite with some familiar faces, such as the Luma, a breakout star from the previous film.
Yet it looks like Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who reportedly wields metal-based powers. Interestingly, the preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also features references to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Returns and Expands
The movie will feature once again of the initial voice actors, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. It was announced by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

The upcoming Mario film is planned to debut near the four-decade milestone of the initial Super Mario Bros. release. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a important time for Mario and his friends.
