England news: Jarell Quansah withdrawn
Jarell Quansah will sit out England's FIFA World Cup qualifying match against the Latvian side due to injury and the player – who did not participate in the national team's three-nil exhibition win over Wales at Wembley – will return to his team Bayer Leverkusen.
The former Liverpool defender has been a regular in Leverkusen's defence this season but England said no further team replacements were scheduled for the qualifier in Riga on this Tuesday.
England could earn a place for next year's World Cup with two matches to spare if they defeat Latvia on Tuesday and outcomes elsewhere in their qualifying group go their in their favor.
Preamble
This is make or break for the Irish team, though their hopes of reaching North America may already seem dead. A familiar figure in Cristiano Ronaldo awaits them, and the Portuguese squad are top of Group F. At the venue, Ireland face a massive task.
Another key match will be European champion Spain, who have triumphed in every game so far in their group, against Georgia, who have never earned a place for a finals and are hoping for the playoffs. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has been a doubt and the Premier League club fans will get a chance to see Giorgi Mamardashvili.
